Sponsor Saz!

I have taken the decision this year to run the Race for Life :) I know you all know it is for a good cause, so I am shamelessly pimping my online sponsor page here in the hope a few of you may be able to sponsor me a few quid! Even if it is £2, that is fantastic. Please don't worry if you can't, I know times are tight and I won't be offended! XD

Here is my page:

Thank you so much, I really, really appreciate it :)

OMG i need to start actually DOING exercise...

BIG NEWS

For those of you who don't frequent Facebook I shall also announce it here...

PAUL AND I ARE ENGAGED!

It's all very exciting and I have a lovely ring. It happened at the weekend but we wanted to tell all our family and close friends first before announcing it over the internet, where news spreads faster than sound. Shall put a more coherent entry when I don't have to run off to a meeting with my personal tutor!

Birthday over, mou. Had a quiet day which was nice really seeing as I felt a bit shit. Paul had got me a cake, and seeing as we only had 20 candles he put 2 and 3 down to try and make 23 for me and sang me Happy Birthday. He was very cute! We spent a good 3 hours playing on Link's crossbow training on my Wii Zapper which was hilarious fun, and then we pootled over to reception to see if my PSP had arrived. Luckily for me it had, and this made my day. The sun came out for half an hour, so Paul and I went and sat in a beatifully deserted Abercromby Square by the roses and excitedly unpacked the box. After depositing £70 of my birthday money (enough to cover the cost of the PSP) in the bank, we sauntered home and played on it for the rest of the day. Paul took me round the corner for a chinese for dinner as we couldn't afford anything fancy, and it was really nice. Mum was such a sweetheart and got me one of those upside-down watches I can out on my uniform at the hospital as we aren't suppposed to wear watches.

Placement starts on Monday, and I was happily ignoring it until after my birthday but now it is looming heavy on the horizon. I am looking forward to it, but am dreading seeing one of the guys I am on placement with as he totally CREEPS ME OUT, along with most of my friends. And 8 weeks seems a looooong time to be stuck with him. I know the actual radiography bit will be okay, once I get used to the machines again, and patients are lovely (most of the time), but I just can't deal with him ><;; He makes me want to run away screaming, and is absolutely terrible with patients. I know he failed at least 2 of the modules we had this year and, it sounds so awful to say, I am kind of hoping he fails clinical and drops back a year or decides to drop out. *shudders*

It was the university open day today, and I went round with Paul as he is doing an Engineering degree after he finishes at LIPA. It was bizarre seeing campus full of tiny people and groups of parents, all looking lost. Paul and I were extremely impressed with the Engineering department - hell, I would have done at least 2 of their degrees! He just wanted to check out the department and learn a bit more about the facilities at Liverpool, and I also had to nip into my department to give my course secretary my bank details so I can have my Academic Prize paid into my account (only £50 - looks like SACE were a bit richer, lol!) It was actually a really nice morning, though now I am shattered and in disbelief that it will be 9 weeks before I have another free weekday :( Back to the real world!

Sultan - squee!

It's my birthday!

I is 23 now! Yays XD I have a Wii Zapper, this is EPIC WIN XDDDD And it came with Link's Crossbow Training - this is possible the greatest win of them all XD I also received more than enough money to cover the PSP I have bought myself off ebay so Sarah is happy!

Whether my PSP has arrived or not is another matter, stupid slow seller....

EDIT: Paul is scarily good at Link's crossbow game (which is insane amounts of fun) - I am utterly humiliated! He is consistently getting at least triple my score!

Quick question

Does anyone know of (or has anyone stayed in) a nice hotel/B&B in London (preferably reasonably central) that wasn't too pricey? There's so many I'm pulling my hair out searching! Thanks to anyone who offers help! ^__^

Gaston - pose!

Wow, It's really been four weeks since I updated? I didn't realise it was that long! I've been so wrapped up in coursework and revision that I have barely lifted my head from my desk. Life is going to continue to be totally mental until mid-May so I can't give up now I guess ><; Coursework is stupid stupid stupid. The physiology case study on HIV and AIDS killed me dead with research, but at least it is written (even if I am hideously over the word limit as usual...) Behavioural Sciences coursework is...dull. I have zero motivation but have somehow managed to spew out an answer (again, too long) for the first question, and now have to commence research on the second. Revision is boring and slow, and writing my presentation is going slowly also, as the other members of my group are less than motivated...

I'll be glad of the 6 or so weeks off after exams are finished, and I just about manage to squeeze in my birthday before my 8 weeks of summer placement start, which last from 30th June until the 29th August. I am very VERY scared about my clinical exams, but shall cross that bridge when I come to it. I'm not impressed at losing most of my summer holiday, but I didn't get one last year so I shouldn't complain! I'm mostly at the minute concerned about my money situation, as having this placement shoved in the middle means it will be hard to get a job, which I desperately need. I can't work at weekends even when I'm on placement, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Again, I think I shall worry abut that after exams are out of the way...

Am having major insane amounts of squeeing at the minute with my XF buddies as the teaser trailer for the new movie was shown at PaleyFest last week. I have it downloaded, but seeing as those of us who weren't there weren't supposed to see it, Fox have removed most uploaded versions of it until it is officially released. IT HAS SMEXY M/S CONVO AND FLASHY ACTION AND THE THEME...OMG THE XF THEME!!! IT MADE MY HEART STOP FOR A MOMENT! (Us XF flailers only speak in capslock, btw!) And check it out, http://www.xfiles.com is back up and running with the gorgeous movie poster background and a few pics in the gallery. No trailer up yet tho, mou :( Apparently it's out next month, so those of you who are interested keep your eyes open!

Paul and I had our five year anniversary on March 25th, whcih we celebrated by going out for a lovely lunch and then going to the world premiere of Karl Jenkins' new work Stabat Mater at the Anglican Cathedral in the evening. I played his Palladio at school in our string group, and I was so excited! I was, without a single shadow of a doubt, the most amazing, magical and stunning concert I have ever, and I imagine will ever go to. Paul and I were truly astounded, and the fact that it was all in the Anglican with the full Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir made it all the more magical. I bought the CD in the interval and when the last note finished resonating round the cathedral, the whole place erupted with joint astonishment, cheers, applause and gave him a standing ovation. Then the rugby scrum for the queue to meet him began and I ran in there with all the rude pushy "adults" and got my CD signed. I was so star-struck by the whole thing I didn't know what to say to him! Paul and I keep playing the CD because it's so spine-tingling, and Cate I am most certainly sending you a copy becuase I know you will love it, I just know you will! It's also on iTunes to purchase if anyone fancies it (if you only pick a few tracks, PLEASE pick 1, 2, 3, 5 and 12. They are...amazing!) *shamelessly plugs*

Anyway I'm starving so catch you all later. OMG XF2!!!! /end flail. For now....

Rachel - Noooooo

WTF??

...so that was an actual earthquake that woke me last night? What the hell? I thought at first it was upstairs being noisy, but I remember thinking "no Sarah, because even they can't shake the walls like that" and went back to sleep. Paul, of course, didn't even notice when I asked him what the hell that was.

Wow. I'm quite gobsmacked.

I think I just wet my pants from laughing and there are actual tears streaming down my face. Anyone who isn't a member of the xfiles community MUST watch this clip. It has nothing to do with the show, it's just a great animation that has just made my frickin' day XD

OMG!

I THINK I'M GOING TO EXPLODE FROM MULDER AND SCULLY GOODNESS!!!

I'm so EXXXXCCCCCIIIIITTTTTEEEEEDDDDDD! *bounces*

So for those who don't know it was WonderCon in SF in the US a couple of days ago and Gillian, David, Chris and Frank were all there to answer the questions of some bursting-at-the-seams-with-orgasmy-excitement fans (including one dressed as Link, at which to my utter delight and hilarity a bemused Gillian commented "...is that a fetish?" XDDDDDDDD

So anyway they showed a very early teaser trailer which IS YUMMY WITH EXCITEMENT!! So I give it to you, here in it's dodgily-recorded glory for those of you who are interested until the proper quality one gets generally released.

And yes, that is Billy Connelly in it incase you were wondering, and no I won't be able to take him seriously either! I like that CC also said when a fan asked him about potential returns of CSM or Krychek that no-one is ever truly dead on the X-Files! Yays! (Though Krychek did get a bullet square in the head from Skinner which could, y'know, hamper his performance a bit.

AAAAAAHHHHHH! MULDER SCULLY MULDER SCULLY MULDER SCULLY!! XDD

Mulder - shit happens

Week of hell, day three over

Professional Issues is done. And it was utterly horrible. I know I certainly did enough to pass, but I can honestly hand-on-heart say that those were two of the hardest exams I've ever done. They. Were. Horrible. And the EMI paper involved me making complete and utter guesses at most of the questions from section A, seeing as I had never ever heard of the things they were talkiing about... Oh well, I wasn't the only one who was annoyed at it! At least it's done, and now I'm the other side of it I feel like I have some breathing space. I shall work hard for anatomy tomorrow morning (it's so interesting I really don't mind revising for that too much...) and I am still choosing to quietly ignore my OSCE until tomorrow evening when the sheer terror will set in I'm sure!

Four down, two to go ^_^

This is what happens when gamers get angry....

This has just had Paul and I in total and utter crying hysterics for 5 minutes, so I thought it was worth posting here. If you want to have any ears left, you may want to turn your volume down now...

And you HAVE to watch to the end, the final breakdown is phenomenal!

Ho Ho Ho!

On the twelfth day of Christmas, the_demon_chrno sent to me...
Twelve movies drumming
Eleven guitars piping
Ten friends a-leaping
Nine books dancing
Eight x-files a-dancing
Seven computers a-singing
Six gymnastics a-reading
Five bri-i-i-itney spears
Four video games
Three desperate housewives
Two hair straightners
...and a nightwish in a sex and the city.
Get your own Twelve Days:

*sings* Fiiiiiiiive Britney Spears! That is the best jingle I've read in a while ^_^

SO haven't updated in a while, though not much has happened that is worth mentioning. Just plodding along in my little corner of reality getting ready for Christmas! Paul and I raided Poundland and Wilkos last weekend and have covered the flat with merriment (luckily I got dibs on the colour scheme - purple, silver and blue, with fairy lights EVERYWHERE!). We also just cooked a turkey roast dinner this evening to get us in the mood, and I do indeed now seem to be feeling the Christmas cheer.

Uni is practically finished now, I have a busy Monday and Tuesday this week and then I am done. Ruth and I have started revising, seeing as a test in Professional Issues last week made us realise just how much we have got to learn... Have been really lazy generally this week as things have started to wind down, and have wiled away most of the week in front of the TV and/or computer skipping between seasons 3 & 4 of Desperate Housewives (OMG tornado ep, WTF are you trying to do to me?? *dies*) when I haven't been working.

I suppose the most important thing that has happened is that I had my first day at my placement hospital (Warrington). It was a very early start, but I am lucky enough to live opposite someone on my course also at Warrington who drives (and who has a very nice car - I stood there in disbelief when she pulled up). We battled through the rain and the morning traffic and arrived at the hospital in good time. It's a really nice place, and is more like a shopping mall than a hospital when you first go in! It seems really modern and friendly, big enough to serve Warrington but small enough so that all the staff know each other - it felt really homely and welcoming, which I have never experienced in a hospital before! Everyone could spot us first years a mile off and kept saying hello. We had all the dull stuff in the morning - rules and regs, don't kill anyone, you WILL catch stuff from the patients but please try not to get MRSA etc. (way to scare the little 18-yr olds!), and we had a tour of the hospital and spent time in A&E. In the afternoon we got to actually explore the departments and get used to their equipment (it is NOT going to be easy for me, seeing as I'm such a short-ass), and we even got to 'push the button.' I must say I was very impressed, all but one of the rooms had brand new machines and they were...well...BLOODY SHINY! It sounds odd to say that about imaging equipment, but it was all so amazing! We observed some of the radiographers in the afternoon, and helped out with the patients. It was just an induction day really so we weren't supposed to be doing much. We are there again for a week in January straight after exams. It was a good day - scary, but it reminded me of why I have come back here. When you are actually out there though and being asked about stuff you know you have learnt, your mind just goes totally blank!

One thing I did discover is that next term we have recuss training. I don't know why this actually surprised me, as it is a basic skill everyone who works in a hospital should have! I am really looking forward to it, as it is something I have always wanted to be able to do just incase. We are even examined on it in June and have to pass to continue on our course.

Right, I am off to play on minigames. Yay for wasting the evening ^^

M & S - we're not playing

*whines*

Noes! I don't believe it! After 6 years of watching 24 I finally get Sky where I am living and rub my hands together in gleeful anticipation of being able to watch series 7 as it actually airs in January. Now in light of this ruddy actor's guild strike, they've pulled the plug on it indefinately. No 24. And they have no idea when (or even if) it will come back. *cries* I need my Kiefer Sutherland!! (Even if they were having to halt production of the show for him to serve his jail sentence...naughty Kiefer...)

I'm so annoyed! All I need now is for them to do the same to Desperate Housewives and I will actually cry. That has already started airing though in the States, so I am hoping that they have finished filming pretty much. Darn it, I need my TV shows to keep me sane!

EDIT: NO!! Desperate Housewives has been stopped too! The creator of that, Marc Cherry, is one of the lead guys for the strike. Oh whoop dee-doo. I understand why they are striking and all but...I love that show...

M&S - do not gaze

ZOMG

*can't contain excitement* I had no idea this was coming out!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000X41AY8/doctorwholoca-21
(despite what the link says, it is nothing to do with Doctor Who...)

It has it all, even the movie! And like a kazillion extras! And I don't bloody care that I have all the video boxsets already and three of the DVD sets (as Paul pointed out, I can sell the DVD sets on ebay!), I WANT THE COLLECTOR'S EDITION IN THE SHINY SHINY BOX! An holy cow you save £130!!! You can't do much better than that!

I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT!

...god, I haven't been this irrational about something in ages! I am SO excited. I've just been starting to get back into watching it regularly since the second movie is starting shooting next month. And now this beauty! Unfortunately Amazon hates me so I think I will have to give Paul the money and get him to order it for me... I WILL HAVE THE SHINY PRETTY THING!

Mulder - i have a life

(no subject)

Wow, updating two days in a row! I need to slow down! /sarcasm

So...yes. I don't know what to tell you all about really because most stories about my life at the minute would require rather large explanations and I really can't be bothered to type that much at the moment, so I will try to keep it simple

Christmas was good in pressie terms, shite in work terms. Fecking extended opening hours sucked royally, as did working on bloody New Years Day. I think I must have seen, ooh, maybe 3 customers all day?? Clearance has finally ended at least, and I finally have some of my holidays looming on the horizon, so that makes it worth it (almost). Work aside, I got some great pressies including a diamond ring from Paul (my first diamonds! Wow! We aren't engaged or anything though, don't get any ideas... I've already got my grandma and my effing siblings jabbiting on about how I'll be the next to get hitched "When is it? blah blah blah" Wierdos...), a lovely Radley bag I've been oggling for ages (I think Paul used his life savings on me this Christmas) and some church candles, CDs, DVDs, perfume, games, Kazuki book (ZOMG I LOVE YOU BECCA! Thought there is an extremely questionable picture of him posing with a breadstick in there... Let's just say he's got a big mouth...) yadee yadee yada.

Paul and I got up at half five on the morning the Wii came out to go to GAME in town and join the queue to get ours. It opened at seven, and the crowds were surprisingly calm, though the man in front of us seemed to be buying anything he could get his hands on to do with it! I bought Twilight Princess (of course) and Red Steel with mine. Wii Sports is really really excellent, and hysterical when there's many of you playing! Paul was a pro in seemingly a couple of days, whereas I totally pwned him on bowling and golf. I finished Zelda last week, and immediately went to start playing it again. It is such an incredible game, and I'm not just saying that because I'm an obsesssive fangirl (zomg Becca I was in a trance every cut-scene he was in, I know you will be the same when you play it fully!), it's stunning. Brilliant plot, gameplay, the graphics are beautiful and Link is SOOO lovely in it! I'm ploughing through Red Steel at the minute, which is also excellent, and I've discovered jusy how tiring sword-fighting can be...

Anyway, must dash. Speak to you all again tomorrow I hope.
